    Infants & Toddlers

At East Coast Early Learning Academy, we offer the very best in Early Childhood Education and our professionals believe in focusing on the needs of the “whole child” in every program that we offer.  The Infant and Toddler Program is available for ages 6 weeks to 2 years and  is designed to promote discovery and to give each child the very best start by following the appropriate practices through professional excellence.
Our infant-toddler child care program encourages safe exploration in soft, inviting, and language-rich environments. We also provide the care and nurturing that is vital to the security and social growth that is key to the infant and toddler’s happiness and social interaction each day.
Our curriculum includes a blend of teacher and child-directed activities, with an emphasis on children’s choices. Throughout the day, there is a balance of quiet and active periods, including time outdoors. We focus on providing not just childcare for infants and toddlers, but an early education experience that gives them a head start in kindergarten and beyond.
Infants and toddlers’ activities progress from one-on-one teacher-infant interaction with feedings and naps as needed, to group activities planned within a structured schedule. Each child is assigned a primary caregiver with whom they form a close, trusting, and supportive relationship.

    Toddler

Your little toddler is busy learning, approaching the world with curiosity and seeking a sense of belonging. Our toddler program encourages the children to build a community in an environment that supports learning together and caring for each other.

The toddlers eat meals at tables together and enjoy an open concept playroom with free play and weekly activities that promote exploration and learning. The children play daily in the outdoor playground, or on days when the weather doesn’t cooperate, they’ll play in our large indoor gym. During the summer, experiences such as a petting zoo and puppet shows are brought into the centre.

    A toddler’s day consists of:

    • Self-selected play
    • Reading books
    • Circle time
    • Focused learning
    • Singing songs
    • Sensory experiences
    • Finger Plays
    • Stroller walks

    Pre-school

    Teachers: Kelly

The preschool program at East Coast Early Learning Academy promotes innovative learning opportunities and individual creativity, while maintaining high standards of care and fostering equal opportunity in education for all children. The focus of our Early Childhood Education Christian preschool program is to not only provide academic support, but to allow every child to become a part of a school family.  Our Pre-K and preschool program is designed to teach, nurture, and grow each child to be all that they can be in life.

ECELA’s preschool curriculum includes a blend of teacher- and child-directed activities, with an emphasis on children’s choices. Throughout the day, there is a balance of quiet and active periods, including learning centers, small and large group activities, phonics, hands-on math, and time outdoors.

Preschool activities are designed to help each child reach the major developmental goals of early childhood learning. We emphasize a solid foundation of reading and math skills.  Apple Tree reaches preschool age children’s learning goals through the implementation of two very successful curriculums:

    • The Pinnacle is a faith based curriculum that allows children to learn through hands on experiences. Learning centers are set up in each classroom to allow for child directed activities and open dialog conversations that build on the creativity, investigative and communication skills of each preschooler.
    • We emphasize a solid foundation of reading and math skills through the use of the A-Beka curriculum. A-Beka uses phonics and letter recognition to teach preschoolers reading skills, and hands-on manipulatives to teach basic principles of math.
